G-Startup Worldwide at GMIC Beijing 2017 Winners Announced!

First place winner 建安华夏/Zion China is awarded a $100,000 investment ($50,000 from GWC Innovator Fund, and $50,000 from 500 Startups),  $5,000 in Facebook ad credits and a trip to Silicon Valley to compete for an additional $250,000 at G-Startup Worldwide Global Finals.

Since 2010, G-Startup alumni have raised $11.6 Billion. Didi alone has raised $11 Billion. We have also had 8 startups get acquired by companies like Google, Amazon, Alibaba, Apple and Pinterest. The G-Startup Worldwide program invests over $1,000,000 in startups annually We have received 546 applications from 48 countries; these startups made breakthrough innovations in the sectors of AI, agriculture, medical insurance, health tech, logistics, food, and more.

One-third of the 15 finalists are big data companies. For the future of big data companies, one of our world-renowned judges, Phil Chen from Horizons Ventures points out that the biggest challenge is for us to turn it into a product through different techniques to make it commoditized. But for the participating companies, many teams are ready to go next stage.

Anu Hariharan, a partner at YC, also gives her input on how to evaluate a startup that gets the next round of funding. She focuses on three factors: team, market validation, and opportunities.

Additionally, G-Startup is excited to partner with Facebook’s successful startup program, FbStart, to help entrepreneurs around the world access resources and scale their business. G-Startup Beijing’s Top 15 will automatically be accepted into Facebook’s FbStart program. Benefits include Facebook ad credits, free partner services, user testing support, and mentorship from Facebook’s product managers and engineers.
